Flappie flirts with Fleurie!

And sure enough, there it was again…on the radio: Flappie by Youp van ‘t Hek. For me, it’s always a reminder that Sinterklaas is back in Spain and Christmas is approaching at a rapid pace.

It seems as if there are no more days after December 31st (and perhaps already December 21st, 2012).....we run and almost stumble over our own feet, and in January we think why?

As Youp’s *Flappie* plays, Christmas menus are flying at us from all sides and my mouth regularly starts watering. Oven at 180 degrees and “Flappie” is almost ready; in the wine cellar lies waiting for the interplay of flavors: Domaine du Vissoux Fleurie Poncié 2011Martine and Pierre-Marie Chermette are gifted winemakers in the Beaujolais. Their Fleurie Poncié is situated on a beautiful southeast-facing slope with the granite-rich subsoil characteristic of Beaujolais. The vines, averaging 35 years old and 100% Gamay, produce a fine red wine with finesse and optimal fruit. Bright red color and a powerful, fresh aroma with nuances of small red fruit. The taste starts fresh, juicy, and full; the development and finish are balanced and fruity. Slightly chilled (14 degrees) together with “flappie” (a local dish), it is guaranteed to be delicious on Christmas Day. I will skip my wine recommendation for Youp’s Christmas dinner on Boxing Day……
