The die is cast…no tram in Groningen. Peace is returning to the world of Groningen politics.
Still, I am somewhat disappointed: the image of a tram in the city of Groningen in 2013/2014, featuring advertising and a reference to the supplier of the delicious drink WINE, is not going to happen.
Waiting patiently until the “tram” fire flares up again… time will tell. Well: in the world of wine, patiently letting time do its work is the most normal thing. Wine takes time. Time to make; time to mature; time to learn how to drink it; time to appreciate it and endlessly search for the best pairing: it takes time. But give it time, too. Drinking a 20 or 30-year-old wine? Take your time!
A wine that truly needs time is Château Patris (no, not Petrus). Château Patris Saint Emilion Grand Cru 2009: In a sense, it is fortunate that not every well-made wine is judged by wine journalists. As a result, these fine wines remain unknown and unnoticed outside of the regular clientele!
Château Patris Saint Emilion Grand Cru is one such wine. No medals, no Parker points, and not even a mention in the major French wine guides, but what incredible quality! Plots of the vineyard are situated next to the famous and very expensive Château L’Angélus. The fantastic and creamy Château Patris is made from 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet grapes, naturally hand-picked, fermented, and aged in oak barrels. Ready to drink only after 5 years of bottle aging.
Believe me: the wait is more than worth the reward! Oh well, as for that tram: luckily we still have the photo.
