Golden Oldies: I'm a fan!

“They are grey-haired, retired, have been traveling on a pink travel pass for ages, and… they want to set the world on fire one last time! In Golden Oldies, Ruben Nicolai assembles a choir of forty elderly residents of The Hague to work towards a धमाकेदार concert at the Royal Theatre Carré.”

Have you ever seen it? On Saturday evenings on BNN, and next week the concert will finally be on air. While channel surfing a few weeks ago, I ended up on the public broadcaster; the 3 blonde ladies from the commercial channel have become a bit like a test pattern... yes, I mean Wendy van Dijk, Linda de Mol, and Chantal Janzen, and I've grown tired of their quiz and talent show hosting, partly due to them. But fortunately, there are the GOLDEN OLDIES: heading towards the final destination of their lives, they are getting even more out of it than anyone would expect. If you were to let them sing the withdrawn King's Song, we would talk less about the content and beam with pride over the performance.

This brings me to the surprise of the week: Chateau Moulinet Pomerol 2000. In the tasting notes at the time, I wrote to drink within 10 years of the harvest. However, upon tasting a forgotten bottle, I was pleasantly surprised! A complex red wine with beautiful aging aromas and light oak. The taste starts full, soft, and creamy, and has a particularly pleasant finish. Wonderful with roasted beef, refined game dishes, or to drink on its own during the Golden Oldies broadcast. TOP!
