That really makes me happy! Wine writer Hubrecht Duijker called it one of the most beautiful locations ever for a wine tasting on Facebook; Tonny Eyk was already relishing the piano Bösendorfer standing ready in the Orangery of Landgoed Klein Drakestein (Lage Vuursche); and winemaker Gaston Hochar (Musar, Lebanon) swapped his winemaker's attire for a three-piece suit. Arend Jan Boekestijn gave a lecture with the message: the euro will be fine. These are just a few tasteful ingredients from the exclusive tasting that my wife and I organized last weekend at Klein Drakestein.
And then everything comes together… my glass is filled with the latest vintage of Amarone from Steffano Accordini. Yes, you fall in love with a wine like this. Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2008: a wine with a deep red color and some brown nuances. The aroma features plenty of candied fruit, currants, and plums. The taste starts very concentrated and soft, developing aromatically with fine, ripe tannins. Intense, complex, and heartwarming. Excellent as an accompaniment to dishes during the game season or simply delightful to savor with this wine and cheese by the fireplace. Make sure you have at least a few bottles in stock, because love is in the air with this wine: Amore for Amarone.
