Groningen has a new beer festival. On June 23 and 24, on the Grain silo Beer Festival 050 will be held on grounds in the city. The beer festival is dedicated to tasting the most delicious beers at breweries from the province of Groningen..
Groningen has a rich history of local breweries. As early as the 17th century, dozens of breweries were active, particularly in the city of Groningen. Consequently, Groningen has more beer culture than most people think.
And that is precisely the reason we want to organize this beer festival, says co-organizer Pieter Kuizenga of Bierfestival 050. “It is really cool how many great breweries and great beers can be found in the province of Groningen. So it is our mission to keep the Groningen beer culture alive and to let as many people as possible get to know these breweries even better while enjoying a tasty beer.”
The breweries Bax beer, Martinus, Grain silo, The Mad Calf, De Prael, and Hoogkerk brewery will be present at this first edition. “They are all fine breweries that complement each other beautifully at this festival. We deliberately choose to keep the number of breweries somewhat low; this gives the festival just a slightly more personal touch. The festival will therefore mainly be about delicious tasting and, above all, enjoyment, and perhaps you will discover your new favorite beer at Bierfestival 050,” says Kuizenga.
