In the heart of Poelestraat, at number 29, Ntourage opens next month; a new hospitality venue that promises to raise the bar in Groningen even higher. Entrepreneur Marcel Levee has been working on it for over fifteen months: a dynamic concept where food, cocktails, and experience flow seamlessly into one another. ‘We want to create an evening you won’t soon forget.’

The concept is as simple as it is ambitious: guests start the evening with dinner in a bistro setting and then walk straight through to a cocktail bar with a DJ. ‘No static concept,’ explains Marcel. ‘It has to be dynamic. First good food and drink, then slowly immersing yourself in the music and the atmosphere.’ The dishes are envisioned in an international bistro style with luxurious accents: oysters, sashimi, and refined small dishes that pair with champagne by the glass. That should make for a complete evening.

For the interior, Marcel collaborated with agency Too Many Agencies, known for several award-winning hospitality concepts. The result will be a distinctive design with different atmospheres in each room. ‘It will be a kind of journey,’ he says. ‘You experience something different in every corner. I hope guests forget the time and feel like they are really out.’ Music plays an important role in this. During dinner, the acoustics remain balanced so that conversations can be held without having to shout over the music. Later in the evening, disco house and Ibiza vibes take over, and the restaurant slowly transforms into a lively cocktail bar.

The establishment deliberately targets a slightly older crowd that doesn't stay out until deep into the night. That is why the decision was made to be open from Thursday through Saturday. ‘It suits this crowd to start the evening together and end it together,’ says Marcel. ‘Peak early is the new after-partying.’ In due course, themed brunches will follow on Sundays, ranging from a drag show to a culinary lobster day or an Italian edition with a matching wine tasting. ‘Those will really be events for which you reserve in advance.’

Poelestraat is known as a student street, but Marcel actually sees a shift. ‘The entire Poeleplein has become a beautiful palette of different businesses. With new concepts such as Dukes of Tokyo and other initiatives, diversity emerges. I think our concept fits in nicely there.’
