Last Sunday, the South Carolina Panthers competed against the Denver Broncos at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, for the 50th edition of the Super Bowl, the final of American Football.
In the Drie Gezusters pubs on the south side, this event was organized for the sixth time with all the bells and whistles. Popcorn, hot dogs, beer, cheerleaders, and lots and lots of screens!
Manager Van den Berg says that it gets busier and busier every year. This year, the Drie Gezusters is welcoming 1,100 fans to the bar. “Ten years ago, 30 of us watched the Sally O’Briens, and now more than a thousand people show up!” says Johan Oostenhuis, chairman of the Groningen Giants, the Groningen American Football club, and co-organizer of this evening. Oostenhuis attributes this to good PR and the club's dedication, along with the fact that there are increasingly more international students in Groningen.
A wonderful event that returns annually and gets bigger every year!
