The 26th edition of the Noorderzon Performing Arts Festival Groningen concluded on Sunday evening, August 28, with the traditional NoorderZondag. Eleven days earlier (on Thursday, August 18), the festival was officially opened with a spectacular and grand program. During the festival days, where the weather showed all its facets, the 150,000 visitors were entertained and challenged for eleven days. The year of visually powerful stories, rotating sets, and pieces about recent events. Regional and international talent thrilled visitors with music, theater, song, dance, and numerous performances. In addition, there was, of course, plenty to enjoy at the many food stalls and atmospheric terraces, perfect for people-watching.
This year, Noorderzon offered a mystery route for the first time, guiding you straight through the entire Noorderzon program. To this end, the festival curated a secret program, and visitors were only informed on the day of booking which performances from the main program they would be attending. Long mystery routes of three performances were available for booking, as well as shorter variants consisting of two performances. A fun addition for those looking for something different!
Noorderzon is the rare and somewhat curious combination of an international performing arts festival and a grand summer party. Location: the atmospheric Noorderplantsoen in the city of Groningen. For eleven days, the festival organization offers its visitors a grand and free-to-access event. Every year, a festival village rises anew in the Noorderplantsoen, where theatre, dance, music, literature, and visual arts go hand in hand with food, drinks, and socializing. Performances take place in tents or on outdoor stages, and at the many partner venues in the city center of Groningen (Noorderzon DownTown). We can't wait until the 27th.e edition!
