50 years of KEI-week in Groningen

DThursday, August 21, 1969, marked the start of the first introduction week for first-year students in Groningen and the start of the first KEI Week. In 1969 with just 1,600 participants, the KEI Week has become a household name in Groningen, now attracting more than 5,000 participants annually. In 2018, it was organized for the 50th time.

For 50 years, students and city dwellers have been living together in the most beautiful student city in the Netherlands. We therefore want to celebrate this with them from August 13 to 17. The KEI Week is for everyone, and everyone is welcome during the largest introduction week in Europe, according to the Chairman of the Executive Board of the KEI Foundation, Marc Boels.

The Royal Family has not failed to notice that KEI Week is for everyone. For instance, Prince Bernhard and Prince Maurits participated in the KEI Week of 1989.

Anniversary

During KEI Week, attention will be paid to the 10th anniversary of the KEI Foundation throughout the entire week. Especially for the 50th anniversary, it will be 'Lustrum festival: KEI at the Beach' organized. Everyone is therefore welcome at the on Thursday, August 16 Kardingerplas to celebrate this anniversary. The history of 50 years of KEI will be particularly visible in the decorations at the anniversary festival.

During the festival, you can dance to various types of music, there is plenty of opportunity to relax, and there are fun activities for everyone. In addition, attention is paid to sustainability, among other things, on the festival grounds. For example, you will find there The Green Corner where all kinds of sustainable initiatives and activities can be found. Additionally, participants can help generate energy themselves, which is used directly for the lighting and sound on the stage. We have ordered tropical weather, so come along and enjoy this wonderful day!
