Bartender Mr. Mofongo enter The Diageo World Class

The month of October has already passed, and this means that the cocktail world is once again battling hard for the most prestigious prize within the bartender scene: Diageo World Class Best Bartender Competition.

Here is a brief summary of this world-famous competition. Every year, beverage giant Diageo organizes the most prestigious bartenders competition in the world. The best from each country represents their national pride during the Grand Finale, where the world's best get to showcase their bartender skills. This year, the Mea Culpa is taking place in Cape Town, South Africa.

Groningen is well represented in the Netherlands this year with 3 bartenders. These are Lennart Deddens, Rogier de Haan (CKNN champion) and Elsbeth Hoekstra. All working in Mr. Mofongo's famous cocktail bar, Mofongo’s Distillery on Oude Boteringestraat in the city. After Deddens narrowly missed the world final last year due to an error in the very last shake-off and thus finished third in the Netherlands, the Groningers have three trump cards up their sleeve this year. So, fingers crossed for the Mr. Mofongo crew!
