Bavaria is going to make disinfectant liquid from unused beer.

BAvaria is going to make disinfectant spray from beer that is not being used by hospitality business owners. Their own stocks will be used for this, and the brewer will collect from hospitality establishments that are closed due to the coronavirus.

Rebrewed

The alcohol is extracted from the beer and, together with water from the brewer's source and glycerin, brewed into hand gel.

Emptying the beer tank

The brewer will first visit the hospitality industry with beer tanks; individual kegs are currently too small. A tank often has a capacity of 500 or 1,000 liters. "That is not an amount you drink in just a few minutes with a couple of friends," says the spokesperson.

After the coronavirus crisis, the emptied tanks will be refilled free of charge. The brewer says it is also helping the hospitality industry in other ways. For example, they can apply for a deferral of payment for deliveries and loans.

The first supplies are being delivered free of charge to healthcare providers who need the disinfectants most.
