Bidvest Deli XL takes the elderly back in time

On Thursday, June 25, over 100 volunteers from Bidvest Deli XL 100 clients of Attent Zorg en Behandeling are heading out to the Netherlands Open Air Museum in Arnhem to take a journey through Dutch history. For the fifth year in a row, Bidvest Deli XL is teaming up with the National Foundation for the Elderly to provide a group of seniors with a carefree day out.

Attent Zorglocaties Tertzio in Elst and De Oude Plataan en Beverode in Dieren were approached this year for Bidvest Deli XL's Senior Citizens' Day. The clients at these centers often struggle with physical limitations. As a result, the costs of an outing become so high for care centers that it is not sufficiently feasible to take residents out for a day.

Attent has expressed its delight at Bidvest Deli XL’s decision to take residents of its care centers Tertzio, De Oude Plataan, and Beverode on a day trip to the Netherlands Open Air Museum. “We are very pleased with this invitation. Attent has chosen to invite its home care clients to this event, in addition to the residents of the aforementioned locations. This allows us to do something for our home care clients for a change. It is sure to be a wonderful, carefree day for people who really need it!” said Wim Timmer, Care Manager at Tertzio.

Loneliness among the elderly is a major problem in the Netherlands. As many as one million elderly people are lonely. The National Foundation for the Elderly therefore applauds the fact that Bidvest Deli XL is organizing a wonderful day out for vulnerable elderly people for the fifth consecutive year. “This is truly an excellent example of Corporate Social Responsibility. Deli XL allows elderly people to enjoy a day out. As far as we are concerned, many companies should follow this fantastic initiative,” says Monique Wolfkamp of the National Foundation for the Elderly.

For Bidvest Deli XL, Senior Citizens' Day is one of the projects through which the organization effectively integrates CSR into its daily operations. This year, over 100 employees are once again volunteering to be buddies for the elderly. This allows seniors to receive one-on-one guidance, enabling them to visit the Open Air Museum at their own pace. “Thanks to the enthusiasm of our employees and the pleasant collaboration with the National Foundation for the Elderly, we are able to provide a large group of seniors with an unforgettable day for the fifth time this year,” says Dick Slootweg, General Manager at Bidvest Deli XL. “This year, we are going back in time together at the Netherlands Open Air Museum.”
