Bonobo is the stage name of British trip-hop producer and DJ Simon Green. He debuted in 2001 with the album ‘Animal Magic’, an album full of hypnotic downtempo trip-hop, jazz, and electronica. Shortly thereafter, he was picked up by the record label Ninja Tune, which already hailed him as a serious talent within the electronic music genre.
Three years ago, Bonobo – the pride of the Ninja Tune label – broke through to the mainstream with his album ‘Black Sands’. Bonobo, initially known primarily for his studio productions, has filled festival fields and tents in recent years and has also sold out one venue after another in the club circuit. This includes the Grote Zaal of De Oosterpoort, which sold out in no time in 2014. In February 2017, Bonobo returns to the Netherlands and, fortunately, is not skipping Groningen!
