Bowlingcentrum Groningen The Kattendiep area is celebrating its half-century anniversary this year. This will be celebrated on March 30, so it is time for a party.
In 1968, one of the first bowling centers in the Netherlands opened in the building on Kattendiep, formerly occupied by Garage Century (VW). Initially, Bowling Groningen was part of Bowling Nederland N.V. Soon, various clubs emerged known by names such as Bowling Eagles, Bowling Pirates, and Black Velvet. Some of the members from that time still bowl at what is now called Bowling Vereniging Groningen.
It is open every day of the week. There are various house competitions in which (hospitality) businesses, groups of friends, students, and families participate. These teams bowl weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. The Bowling Association bowls every Tuesday.
Bowling Groningen offers special packages for groups such as children's parties, school classes, and students. Once a month, there is Disco Bowling. Loud beats with good sound, atmospheric lighting effects, and of course, a great atmosphere make Disco Bowling a successful outing.
Many Groningen residents have celebrated their children's parties at the Kattendiep. Later, they return with their children or grandchildren for a fun bowling session. Students who have been there return later with their children or for bachelor parties. People keep returning to bowl recreationally or join a competition.
The pencil used to keep track of scores is a thing of the past. Scores are now maintained using modern computer-controlled technology. A major renovation took place last summer, and 10 new bowling lanes were installed.
Officially exists Bowling Groningen March 29, 2018 50 years. On March 30th of this year (Good Friday), a big party is being organized for invited guests.
Throughout the year, various events will be organized so that every resident of Groningen can join in celebrating the anniversary.
