On Tuesday, January 10, wholesaler Deli XL and ecological urban distribution company Bubble Post signed a cooperation agreement. With this, the companies affirm their commitment to working together in the coming years to further increase the sustainability of distribution in major inner cities. The signing took place at the Van Bron tot Bord pavilion at Horecava in Amsterdam.
Deli XL supplies various hospitality clients in Amsterdam's city center. The municipality operates a climate and energy program aimed, among other things, at reducing the city's CO2 emissions. By entering into a partnership with Bubble Post, Deli XL is anticipating this program. “As a supplier, we see it as our responsibility to continue striving for the sustainability of transport. Bubble Post has proven to be a very suitable partner to collaborate with in this regard. I am confident that this method of delivery will also be a solution for other city centers. We intend to support Bubble Post wherever possible in the further expansion of its activities in other Dutch cities,” says Dick Slootweg (General Manager, Deli XL).
Motivated to contribute to a solution for the increasing problems surrounding the delivery of goods to businesses in Amsterdam's city center, Deli XL and Bubble Post launched a pilot project over six months ago. The initiator at Deli XL is Hessel de Keijzer (Branch Manager Amsterdam and Hoofddorp): “Our partners are an extension of our service and customer focus. Bubble Post fulfills this perfectly. To guarantee the delivery quality of orders, they have opened a refrigerated depot at Amsterdam-Sloterdijk. We deliver our refrigerated and dry goods products there, after which Bubble Post sorts and bundles them to then deliver the orders to the customer as agreed.” The Bubble Post vehicles used are electric bicycles with a small cargo box. Bubble Post determines the most cost-effective route based on the customer list. “In addition to the environmentally friendly delivery method, we are also no longer bothered by traffic jams in the city. The bikes can travel throughout the city without incurring delays,” concludes de Keijzer, “That helps us plan our deliveries even more efficiently.”
