Cafe Top 100 is ending

NAfter 26 editions, publisher Vakmedianet has decided to discontinue organizing the Café Top 100. In recent years, despite the hard work of the Misset Horeca team, there was insufficient growth in the number of participants. Sponsorship revenue also fell short of expectations.

For the cafés participating in the competition, it has always been an educational process that, through the jury reports and reports from the mystery visits, often led to small and large areas for improvement for the team. For the winners, the competition generated extra revenue and media attention.

The decision to stop nonetheless is explained by publisher Geert van den Bosch:

‘A number of factors have led to this difficult decision – the Café Top 100 is, after all, an institution. The primary reason is that, despite the many efforts from the team, jury members, ambassadors, and sponsors, the number of participants has not grown in recent years. Moreover, the labor-intensive competition had been operating at a loss for years. In addition, the Misset Horeca team invested a great deal of time in the competition that, in my view, we could better invest in other initiatives. We thank participants, jury members, and partners for their dedication and involvement over the past years.’
