Have you always wanted to spend the night on the Grote Markt? You can do so on the weekend of June 24, when Groningen celebrates the biggest return day of the year. To mark this special reunion, a campsite is being built on the Grote Markt where returning visitors can spend the night during their visit to Groningen.
It is possible to spend two nights at the most beautiful spot in Groningen in a sustainable 2-person cardboard tent equipped with an air mattress and a sleeping bag. There is room for about 500 guests on the Grote Markt. The campsite is accessible only to camping guests and is equipped with all necessary sanitary facilities.
The campsite will also feature a genuine camping café called “Nuchter” at the tourist office. Here you can enjoy an egg ball paired with local beers such as d’Olle Grieze and Nuchter from Brouwerij Martinus. The event will be accompanied by music from up-and-coming and established musicians and is free to attend. Tickets for the campsite are now available online at: www.groninginnedag.nl/tickets
The weekend of June 24th is bursting with activities in the city center. Among others, the Gin Festival in the der Aa Church, the International Beer Festival on the Ossemarkt, Cooking with the Market The fish market and the reunions in various cafes are part of Groninginnedag.
