Crowdfunding campaign ‘Martinitoren reborn’ successful

HThe target amount of 50,000 euros needed to give the Martini Tower a facelift has been raised. The money was collected through a crowdfunding campaign, initiated by Marketing Groningen. Hundreds of donors contributed to this.

In 2018, the modern visitor to the tower needs more context for their climbing experience. Not just climbing and enjoying the view, but also learning something about the how, what, and why of the Martini Tower. That is why the tower could use a refresh on the inside. The project totals €325,000. Of this, €56,920 is being funded by this crowdfunding campaign. In return, donors will enjoy, among other things, a luxury dinner at the top of the tower, participate in a bootcamp, attend an intimate surprise concert, or adopt a stair step.

Martini Tower

The interior of the Martini Tower is being refurbished to better showcase the tower's original state. Improved lighting, an inviting entrance, and display cases featuring original architectural elements are just a few examples of how the tower is being restored to its former glory. The tower is being designed so that visitors will enter an impressive experience that tells the tower's story. One of the features is a cinema at a height of 45 meters. There, the history of the city and surrounding area is displayed on a panoramic screen, with the tower as a witness. The new-style Martini Tower is expected to open before the autumn holidays. During the refurbishment, the tower remains open to the public.

The success of the crowdfunding campaign would not have been possible without all the donors, and it will be celebrated this autumn. Naturally, at the foot of the Martini Tower.
