These cooks will compete against each other on Saturday, June 24, during the cooking competition Koken met de Markt at the Vismarkt in Groningen. Didn't make the cut? No problem! You can also register as a cook for the cooking competition. Klaar Af Kook at the Horeca Fair North Netherlands, Monday, October 2, 2017.
The ‘Cooking with the Market’ competition will consist of three rounds in which two professional chefs cook against each other, and a final in which the two chefs with the most points compete for the coveted title of Best Chef of the Market and a ‘golden ticket’ for Klaar Af Kook.
During ‘Cooking with the Market’, chefs are challenged to prepare a meal using products from the Fish Market, in combination with products from our partner Bidfood.
Each round will consist of a red team (cook 1) and a green team (cook 2). Within 30 minutes, the teams must purchase products with a red or green ‘Ready, Set, Cook’ shopping bag at the best and most beautiful market in the Netherlands, the Groninger Vismarkt. Each team has 30 minutes to purchase the ingredients at the market. Once all ingredients have been bought, cooking takes place for 30 minutes using induction plates and a shared oven. After a total of 60 minutes, the meals will be served to a professional jury and a table of visitors. The jury will judge the meal according to the same criteria as ‘Klaar Af Kook’, and our presenter will ask four people from the audience to taste the meals as well.
The composition of the dishes prepared by the participating chefs today will be uploaded to our website immediately after being served to the jury and the public table. This way, every visitor of ‘Groningen Daydownload the recipe list to his phone and buy the products directly at the Fish Market. The participating chefs will indicate where these products were purchased at the market and how to incorporate them into the dishes.
