June 12, 2014 · Team HG
Noorderpoort Art & Multimedia presents the annual festival ImpressFest. It takes place from June 11 to 15 at Verzetsstrijderslaan 2 in Groningen. For five days, ImpressFest gives ample space to young talent eager to conquer the world of art and culture.
ImpressFest is a theatre, music, film, and design festival organized by the students of Noorderpoort Art & Multimedia. This festival started in 2011 to allow graduating students to present their final products. This year marks the fourth edition of ImpressFest, with the theme “Jong Wild” (Young Wild). This theme refers not only to the age group of the creators but also to the input these students bring to their products: from their own, and perhaps wild, vision of theatre, film, music, and design.
The program features a wide range of concerts, theater and cabaret performances, films, and art exhibitions. A special exhibition entitled *Het Bos* (The Forest) is being set up in the basement of the school building. Furthermore, there is a daily talk show, “de Impresskresj,” with guests from the Groningen art and culture scene, current themes, and a look back and forward at the program. The Kinderimpressfest offers the very youngest the chance to see children's theater performances, and the week will conclude with the presentation of the Imprezzies; the film awards for Best Film, Best Director, Best Edit, among others.
On the outdoor grounds, in the atmosphere of Carnivale, the public can enjoy intimate circus and variety acts, which take place both outside on the square and in the small tents.
