Ready Set Cook, the new professional competition of the North

On Monday, October 6, during the Groningen Hospitality Fair 2014 sees the first edition of Klaar Af Kook take place, the premier cooking competition of the North. The Martinikerk will be the setting for an exciting competition in which professional (and aspiring) cooks compete against each other. While the first round involves cooking with a pre-known selection of ingredients, the second and final rounds will depend entirely on the ingenuity and creativity of the cooks.

“There are a great many chefs in Groningen who cook at a high level. We therefore thought it would be fun to have an independent jury decide who can call themselves ‘Best Chef of Groningen’ for a year,” says Joris van Berkel, the driving force behind the event.

According to a knockout system, the various chefs will compete against each other in the preliminary rounds, cooking simultaneously in pools of four chefs. The top two chefs from each pool advance to the semi-finals. In the final, the best four chefs from the semi-finals compete against each other, where the winner receives the coveted door sticker in addition to a magnificent prize. With this door sticker, the establishment can demonstrate that the best chef in Groningen is working at their location.

As the main sponsor of the event, are DeliXL prayer card and Rational Commercial Kitchen Technology found willing to make kitchen equipment and ingredients available; both companies are wholesalers for the hospitality industry. Knives & Tools has made four knife sets available, which the four finalists will take home after the match.

Starting this coming September 1st, participants can register at www.klaarafkook.nl.
