Groningen New Year's Party Program Announced

The organizers of the New Year's Party have once again succeeded in putting together a spectacular and varied program for the city festival taking place on January 1st in the business lounge of Euroborg will be held.

The New Year's celebration was first organized in Groningen in 1908, back then at Huize de Beurs. 107 years later, the New Year's celebration has grown into a party for everyone at the Groningen stadium. Young and old are welcome to ring in the new year. The doors will open at 7:00 PM. From that moment on, the Mira Orchestra will perform classical music. Mayor Vreeman will officially open the festivities at 8:00 PM with a speech—his final official act during his time as Mayor of Groningen. Immediately following this, José Zwerink will lead the singing of the Groningen anthem this year. City historian Beno Hofman will also provide a reflective overview of the past year and the times to come as 'acting mayor' Hofman. And there is much more on the program, as well as various well-known and lesser-known cityscapes.

The Blind Roofers, Knight Susan, and Hans van Lier and the Sidekicks have now been confirmed for the pop stage. The Jazz050 stage will be in the hands of musician Diederik Idema, and as we have come to expect from him, he is bringing along a large array of top musicians.

The Dutch-language folk song stage is not missing. Performing that evening are: Johan Tel, Theo Driessen and Sandy Goeree, Burdy, Rodney Elzer, and HoppaH! Groningen troubadour Moti will also accompany the party in style. In short, something for everyone.

A Groningen party is only complete with a swinging afterparty; DJ Oortje will be hosting this at EMG Faktors from midnight to 4:00 AM.

Pre-sales have already started. Tickets costing €5 are available this time in the form of a scarf at the Tourist Information Office on the Grote Markt and at Elpee on the Oosterstraat. Previous editions sold out quickly, so it is advisable to purchase tickets in time.
