On Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 July, the Hoge en Kleine der A in the Groningen city center will be the stage for Summer Prosperity (the summer version of WinterWelvaart). With this maritime festival, the Northern National Maritime Museum and De Verhalen van Groningen celebrate the 250th anniversary of Het Stadskanaal.
On eight historic ships on the Hoge and Kleine der A, visitors can participate in activities such as an exhibition of paintings depicting the origins of the Stadskanaal, the theatre performance Heisa, and a storytelling café. Bert Hadders & de Nozems will also perform their Bosklopper Tapes.
In addition, there is plenty to do on and around the quay. For example, there is a DieZijn Leuk and Handmade Market, and a children's workshop by VRIJDAG. Rafts can also be built and 3D boats printed with Fablab. And there are short boat tours to take with the museum ship Emma from the Maritime Museum.
After this weekend, the historic fleet will continue its course to Musselkanaal, where from Friday, July 31 to Sunday, August 2, where MusSAIL Canal is being celebrated.
