Entrepreneurs in sectors that have experienced a revenue decline of more than 40% due to coronavirus measures may be eligible for financial compensation. The Municipality of Groningen has made €2.9 million available for this purpose from the former TONK scheme (Temporary Support for Necessary Costs). Together with previously announced support measures, this is intended to ensure economic recovery and new entrepreneurial prospects within the hardest-hit sectors.

The prolonged coronavirus crisis and the various lockdowns have caused financial difficulties, particularly for entrepreneurs in a few specific sectors. The consequences of the crisis are still noticeable in these sectors. Based on research figures from Statistics Netherlands (CBS), an assessment was made of which sectors in Groningen experienced a revenue decline of more than 40%. Companies in these sectors are eligible for the compensation.
Entrepreneurs based in Groningen in the hardest-hit sectors may be eligible for a one-off contribution of €1,500 per entrepreneur. They can apply for this financial contribution via the municipality's website starting Tuesday, March 15, 2022. Applications are only accepted for companies with the correct CBS (Standard Business Classification) codes.
The application form is located under the title Groningen Specific Sectors Allowance on the webpage ‘Support for entrepreneurs during coronavirus’. The other measures to support entrepreneurs in the municipality of Groningen are also listed here.
