Festival recycles beer from urine, from Pis to Pilsner

The organizers of the festival of Roskilde hope to collect 25,000 liters of urine through their “beercycling” scheme.

The largest festival in Northern Europe bears the slogan ‘From piss to beer’ and all 100,000 festival-goers may contribute.

The urine ends up in special tanks, which are then transported to nearby fields where malt grows. If all goes well, visitors to Roskilde in 2017 will drink beer made from malt they watered themselves, reports the Huffington Post Thursday.

The festival started on Saturday and runs until this coming Saturday. Paul McCartney, Disclosure, and Florence + the Machine are among the performers.
