LLovers of culinary bites, regional products, and delicious drinks will be completely satisfied on Sunday, February 2 and Monday, February 3, 2020, at the first edition of the Gastronomy Festival in MartiniPlaza Groningen.
A new culinary festival with the charm of yesteryear and the flair of today—that is what the organizers, Bidfood, Horecagroningen, and Martiniplaza, have in mind. At the two-day event, both private and business visitors can enjoy everything the hospitality industry, the chef, and local entrepreneurs have to offer in the field of gastronomy. Think of everything related to: local cheeses, wines, beers, fish & charcuterie, and vegetables. In addition, various food workshops and tastings will take place. Children have also been considered; they can let loose in a festive kids' area full of activities.
The initiators drew inspiration for the new Gastronomy Festival from, among other sources, the culinary event ‘Proeven in Groningen’, which ceased in 2015. The atmosphere of the past is returning, albeit wrapped in the spirit of the present. The decision to hold the festival indoors and on Sunday and Monday is therefore a deliberate one; these are the days when many hospitality businesses are available to participate and are not affected by the weather.
Stroll through Groningen's longest and most convivial festival street and be surprised by a wide variety of food stalls and stands. Enjoy delicious dishes and live music on atmospheric themed terraces. Actively participate in workshops and prepare your own food, among other things. Discover local entrepreneurs at the regional products market and get acquainted with snacks and drinks you may never have heard of.
The complete festival program will be presented to the public on a grand scale at the end of January; until then, new participants and activities are being revealed on the event's social media channels and website.
