Charity KEI-week 2018

EEvery year, the board of Stichting KEI selects a charity for which they will raise money before and during the KEI week. The choice takes into account a local and tangible goal. This year, the choice fell on Ronald McDonald House Groningen Foundation.

KEI-WEEK 2018: AUGUST 13 TO 17

When a child has to be admitted to the hospital, it is a profound event. For the child, but also for the parents, brothers, and sisters of the sick child. At the Ronald McDonald House, the sick child's family can find a place to sleep and a listening ear when needed. There is a home-like atmosphere so far from home.

Marc Boels, Chairman of the Executive Board of the KEI Foundation: “Everyone has experienced illness up close at some point. This is a terrible experience for the sick person, but also for the people around him or her. As a board, we found this very relatable, and that is why we consider the Ronald McDonald House such a good initiative.” Jolanda Kamphuis, manager of the Ronald McDonald House in Groningen, said regarding this:

Volunteers

The majority of the work is done by approximately 70 enthusiastic volunteers. They not only take care of household chores and ensure the house is constantly staffed, but above all, they also offer a listening ear when needed. “During KEI Week, we are also largely dependent on volunteers. Without volunteers, KEI Week, and the Ronald McDonald House as well, would not be such a success,” says Boels.

Donate

Participants in the KEI Week can donate money upon registration and during an activity at Sportplaza on Wednesday, August 15. In addition to raising money for the Ronald McDonald House in Groningen, food is also being collected for the Groningen Food Bank during the KEI Week. For instance, leftover food and drinks from the KEI picnic and items not allowed inside during the Lustrum Festival will be collected for the Food Bank.
