VVia Facebook, De Drie Gezusters announces that they will not be organizing the upcoming edition of Groningen On Ice (the ice rink on the Grote Markt in Groningen).
De Drie Gezusters and her Foundation Events Groningen has the objective of organizing the most beautiful and fun ice rink, for thousands of Groningers to enjoy. They want to create an ice rink that transforms the city center of Groningen into a winter paradise.
A combination of rising organizational costs and declining contributions and subsidies has placed the Groningen On Ice budget under such pressure that organizing an ice rink has become impossible. Consequently, De Drie Gezusters and its Stichting Evenementen Groningen have chosen to abandon plans for the upcoming winter season and withdraw as the organizer of the annual ice rink on the Grote Markt.
De Drie Gezusters and its Stichting Evenementen Groningen have dedicated themselves to the city of Groningen with great passion and pleasure over the past few years. The loss of the ice rink for the upcoming season does not mean that their commitment will diminish. They hope to organize wonderful events again in the future and to once again be an asset to the city of Groningen.
