On November 10, 11, and 12, the Graanrepubliek is organizing the Great Grain Dinner in the City of Groningen – in light of Let’s Gro 2016.
The way to a man's heart is through his stomach. You can often tell a story, but experience shows that when you let people taste and experience it, they win him over. During the Great Grain Dinner, you experience a story—the history and the future of grain—through visuals, dishes, sound, and spoken word. The six-course dinner is created by Chef Christian Weij. He is one of the ambassadors of Dutch Cuisine and a huge advocate of local and pure food.
The setting where the Great Grain Dinner takes place is one where we feel at home: the tasting room and brewery of Groningen-based BAX Bier. Together with them, we have developed a Graanrepubliek beer especially for the Great Grain Dinner, which will be introduced this evening. During the dinner, the dishes will be accompanied by matching beers and other grain brews.
With the Great Grain Dinner, we want to show our guests how beautiful the Groningen landscape is. To showcase the versatility and uses of grains and make the connection between the city and the surrounding countryside tangible. But above all, the Great Grain Dinner is an evening to enjoy.
1 // Great Grain Dinner – 6-course dinner incl. pairing drinks at the BAX Bier brewery // from 18:30-23:00 // € 50 per person
2 // Grand Grain Dinner + Boat Trip – Grain dinner as described above, but including a boat trip. We gather in front of the Korenbeurs and walk to the boarding point for the boat that takes us to BAX Bier. Discover the history of the city from the water and how grain has contributed to the city's development. In the evening, the bus takes you back to the boarding point // from 17:00 to 23:00 // €75 per person
Tickets can be booked via the website.
