HEineken is waiving the full rent for April and May for entrepreneurs in properties where the brewer is involved as a subtenant. MissetHoreca.
Yesterday, they already announced that entrepreneurs located in properties owned by Heineken were required to pay half the rent for April and May. Now, 100% of the rent is being waived for over 700 hospitality properties for the months of April and May.
The idea, Heineken states, is that the landlord covers one month and Heineken the other.
‘But we are still in negotiations with a number of landlords,’ spokesperson Menno van der Vlist tells Misset Horeca. ‘However, that outcome has no influence on this measure.’
Even if Heineken cannot reach an agreement with the landlord, the entrepreneur will still have two months' rent waived.
Whatever happens, the entrepreneurs are certain that they will receive two months' rent.
Heineken Netherlands manages approximately 130 properties itself. Tenants of these properties will receive a half-reimbursement of rent from the brewer for the months of April and May. In addition, Heineken leases around 700 properties from over 600 property owners. In these cases, the beer brewer acts as a ‘subtenant’. Consequently, the tenants in these properties will receive a one-off full waiver for two months.
