At the end of October 2015, the first piling pile was driven into the ground, and last Tuesday, April 5, the reconstruction of Restaurant De Rietschans in Haren reached its highest point. The flag was hoisted and the clients treated everyone to roof-roof beer.
The Haren restaurant was struck by lightning in August 2014, leading to a fire that destroyed the building. After 428 days, reconstruction could begin in October 2015. Last Tuesday, April 5, the reconstruction reached its highest point; entirely in keeping with tradition, clients Frans Kappenburg and Fred Dalebout treated the construction workers to "pannenbier." This so-called "pannenbier" is a well-known term in the construction industry. When the highest point of a building is reached and the roof tiles can be laid, beer is served on behalf of the client.
