Night Mayor of Groningen, Chris Garrit, has received an invitation from the municipality to organize a night debate in the old council chamber of City Hall. This night debate will be about whether or not to build a fountain in the city center of Groningen.
Earlier, a letter to the municipality of Groningen caused a stir in the media regarding the sense and nonsense of the plan. An online poll was organized by the night mayor. The vast majority of voters appeared to see merit in the plans to adorn the center of Groningen with a new vibrant spot.
The Municipality of Groningen followed this up this summer with the announcement that it also intends to investigate realizing a Groningen city fountain. Since then, positive discussions have taken place between the Night Mayor and the Municipality of Groningen.
According to the night mayor, it should become a pleasant place to unwind in the busy city center. Preferably a fountain of substantial size and allure, and visually appealing at night as well. Potentially a future crowd-puller in the heart of Groningen.
Where would a fountain fit in the city center? What should this fountain look like? The night debate will delve further into these questions.
On Friday, November 21, when it is dark outside, a night debate will be organized in Groningen City Hall with various speakers, and there will be an opportunity to listen or participate. The night debate is included in the program of the inspiration festival. Let’s Gro.
