The number of hospitality vacancies continues to grow, and the labor market is becoming increasingly tight. In our region alone, there are 850 open vacancies in the hospitality sector. Groningen hospitality entrepreneurs are therefore taking a joint initiative: The Job Drinks. On March 18, during the Job Drinks, the hospitality entrepreneurs want to connect with job seekers in an accessible way.
Working in the hospitality industry is all about motivation, competencies, and personality. This does not come across on an expensive CV or in a complicated job interview. That is why the core of the Job Drinks is a convivial gathering where job seekers and employers connect in an informal way.
During the drinks reception, participants can present a Wildcard to the hospitality business. With this Wildcard, they indicate that they are willing to shadow someone on the work floor for half a day. This allows them to get to know each other better. This shadowing day serves as a direct replacement for the job interview. If there is a connection after the shadowing, they will look for a suitable job together. The hospitality business owners also receive a Wildcard. The owner can use this to invite a job seeker to work with their team for an afternoon.
Due to the great success of the previous Job Drinks, many more hospitality entrepreneurs have joined this edition, making the opportunities significantly greater. This Job Drinks event marks the direct kick-off of a joint campaign with the slogan “Will you fall in love with the hospitality industry?” Multiple Job Drinks events are being organized this year with this message. In this way, the hospitality industry, in collaboration with Werk in Zicht, is attempting to reduce the shortage on the labor market.
The BaanBorrel is a joint initiative of Werk in Zicht, Horecagroningen.nl and the Three SistersThe Job Drinks event is on March 18 and starts at 4:00 PM at De Drie Gezusters in Groningen. Those interested can register via www.werkinzicht.nl/baanborrel
