Horecagroningen launches independent food and ordering platform

Complete and regional overview of hospitality businesses in the city and surrounding area

As of this month, you can find a complete and independent overview of hospitality businesses offering takeaway or delivery services via the website horecagroningen.nl. Guests in the city and surrounding area can order directly from the business owner via the website. With this complete and independent overview, Horeca Groningen aims to offer entrepreneurs extra support during the coronavirus crisis.

With your order in three clicks

Horecagroningen.nl offers a complete overview of where you can order or pick up food, along with an extensive company profile featuring menus, kitchens, photos, and even available vacancies. The idea is that you can access the entrepreneur's ordering or pickup options in three clicks.

Win-win: cheaper for hospitality business owners and customers

The idea for a regional food ordering platform originated during the first hospitality lockdown earlier this year. “It soon became apparent that the corona crisis had major consequences for the hospitality industry,” says Joris van Berkel of Horeca Groningen.

“We immediately foresaw that ordering would become the new norm (for the time being), and that is still the case in the current coronavirus situation. This means that hospitality entrepreneurs became entirely dependent on existing and expensive ordering platforms or had to start offering their own ordering options.” With many existing food and delivery platforms, an entrepreneur spends a lot of money on membership fees, commission costs, and exorbitant fees per dish. This impacts the price for the customer, the entrepreneur's revenue, and results in very low wages for food delivery drivers working for such platforms. Especially in these times, you want to support the hospitality industry, which is why we created this platform.”

Free enterprise and fair prices

Horecagroningen.nl was created through a collaboration between the Municipality of Groningen, the Groningen Entrepreneurs Fund, the Province of Groningen, and various hospitality entrepreneurs. The aim is to promote free enterprise in the hospitality sector and offer guests favorable meal prices. Furthermore, the platform increases the visibility of entrepreneurs and strives to retain employment and income within the region. Finally, the platform aims to raise awareness among its visitors by encouraging regional and direct ordering from hospitality establishments, benefiting both the customer and the entrepreneur.

Entrepreneurs can participate in horecagroningen.nl for free until June 1, 2021, and thereafter remain a member without obligation for a low annual fee. “Every hospitality business is welcome on our platform, regardless of their takeaway or delivery service. This allows us to offer the most complete overview possible for our visitors and ensures we exclude no one. After all, Horecagroningen.nl is for everyone.”
