Jazz artists Rose Ellis and Daan Kleijn (USA) to EM2

These artists, originally from Groningen, managed to settle as jazz musicians in New York and are returning to Groningen.

Prince Claus Conservatory

After graduating from the Prins Claus Conservatory in 2011, Roos Plaatsman, stage name Rose Ellis, and Daan Kleijn were both able to start working at the Aaron Copland School (NY) and New York University with prestigious scholarships. Roos specialized in vocals and Daan as a guitarist. The two managed to work their way up in the club circuit and build a life far away from their hometown of Groningen.

Rose Ellis recently released a debut CD featuring a lot of her own work. ‘Storytelling’ and ‘crystal clear’ are recurring terms in the glowing reviews.

As Jazz History Online writes: It has been quite a while since I've been this impressed with a vocalist's debut album.

Rose Ellis is normally accompanied by a band, but this summer the former Groningen residents are touring Europe as a duo. They will soon return from a short tour of Poland and fly back to New York at the end of the month. EM2 has managed to secure the two talents for a unique performance.

Performance

On Sunday, August 26, starting at 4:30 PM, they will play two sets at venue EM2. Loyal fans finally get the chance to see the duo play again after years of absence from Dutch soil. Be there, because you never know if or when you will get the chance to see these musical geniuses at work again.

After the performance, food will be available; Tondo’s will serve pizza al taglio.
