You want to use paid music services such as Spotify, Last.fm, and Apple Music in your hospitality business. Is that allowed?
No, you may not use Spotify in your business. The Spotify Terms of Use state that the Spotify Service and the content offered are the property of Spotify or its licensee. Your Spotify subscription is therefore for private use only. You are also not permitted—at this moment—to use services such as Last.fm, Nokia Comes With Music, and Apple Music for business purposes.
The business use of Spotify is completely separate from the fees you must pay to Buma and/or Sena for playing protected music. In short: even though you pay Buma and/or Sena for music rights, you may not use Spotify for commercial purposes.
There is increasing demand for an affordable and reliable alternative to protected background music. That is why KHN has developed a rights-inclusive streaming music service exclusively for members for just €14.95 per month. Check out khnmuziek.nl to listen to a demo or to subscribe directly.
