A place where everyone feels at home and has a good time every time. That sums up the feeling of the international Melodica Festival. The fourth edition of the Groningen branch of the festival takes place on May 26 at Bax Bier Proeflokaal and on May 27 and 28 at the Grand Theatre.
Melodica is a global concept: folk and songwriter music in an intimate setting, where people truly listen to the artist. It has proven so successful that, in addition to Groningen, it is also organized in Germany, Denmark, Iceland, and France.
In addition to local (Vikings in Tibet, Blue Eskimo) and Dutch acts (Black Oak, Sólin), artists from all over Europe take the stage, such as Meadows (Sweden), Lasse Matthiesen (Denmark), and Peter Piek (Germany).
At Melodica, there are no big names or headliners: everyone knows each other or is getting to know each other, both the artists and the audience, who, incidentally, have always gone home with a smile from ear to ear so far!
The festival exists by the grace of donations, so admission is pay what you want.
