After a successful first edition in 2014, the fourth edition of the MultiCulinair Food Festival will take place in Groningen on Saturday 3, Sunday 4, and Monday 5 May 2015.
During the Whitsun weekend, you can enjoy an unprecedented culinary spectacle for young and old, where a wide selection of food trucks and street food chefs will present their cuisine. The cozy Bernoulliplein will be transformed into a pleasant and accessible open-air restaurant with food, drinks, live music, and a children's program.
The MultiCulinair Food Festival is the premier culinary and cultural food festival of Groningen and the surrounding area, aiming to give food lovers an accessible taste of how rich and diverse Dutch culture is in the culinary field. Visitors can enjoy a variety of surprising dishes from all over the world at reasonable prices. Greek, Korean, Indian, German, and French are just a small selection of the cuisines on display.
Enjoy a good glass of wine while the DJs and bands create a lively atmosphere. For the youngest visitors to the event, fun and educational workshops are held on all days, and of course, there is a bouncy castle.
European Street Food Awards – preliminary round in Groningen!
The European Street Food Awards has partnered with Multiculinair Festival to represent the Netherlands. During a guest appearance at the European Street Food Congress in Dortmund, they stood out thanks to their vision of the food festival phenomenon. Organizers and food truckers from all over Europe were present at this event. It is an honor that Richard Johnson, an award-winning writer for The Guardian, organizer of the British Street Food Awards and the European Street Food Awards, which are being held for the first time this year, personally asked Multiculinair to host the Dutch version. In doing so, the beautiful city of Groningen will be included in a list alongside cities such as London, Barcelona, Paris, and Milan, where preliminary rounds will also take place. No Amsterdam or Rotterdam, but simply Groningen!
During the Multiculinair Food Festival, visitors will be able to vote for their favorite food truck for three days. The public winner will advance to the final in Berlin free of charge to compete for the title: #1 European Food Truck. The final will be held in Berlin on September 30 and October 1, after which the winner will be crowned the #1 food truck in Europe and receive exposure in culinary magazines and various media channels of all participating countries.
