National Mussel Week: will you participate?

From September 3 to 11, 2016, the restaurant edition of National Mussel Week will take place for the second time. This week is entirely dedicated to the Zeeland mussel. Restaurants can participate by adding a mussel menu or dish to their menu. Will you join in?

Following the great success of last year, in which 300 restaurants participated, it has been decided to organize a Mussel Week again this year. The idea comes from the Zeeland mussel sector and is intended to introduce the Netherlands to this salty delicacy.

Mussel eating experience
Mussels are a unique natural product, and above all, eating mussels is an experience. For the mussel sector, Belgium has long been the most important market. Here, ‘moules frites’ can be found on every menu. Tilly Sintnicolaas of the Dutch Mussel Bureau: “Just like last year, we want to raise the profile of Zeeland mussels in the Netherlands. We still see many opportunities for restaurants, and we want to support them through a promotional campaign in which consumers are invited to eat mussels at participating restaurants during National Mussel Week. The week has a twofold purpose: it allows Dutch restaurants to showcase what they have to offer, and for the mussel sector, it is wonderful that extra attention is being paid to the magnificent product that is Zeeland mussels.”
