Dutch breweries achieved a new export record in 2014. They exported nearly 1.6 billion euros worth of beer, an increase of 4 percent. After Mexico, the Netherlands is the world's largest beer exporter. By far the largest buyer of Dutch beer is the United States. This has CBS announced

Dutch beer is also popular outside Europe
Dutch beer is consumed all over the world. Two-thirds of exports are destined for the non-European market. The US is by far the most important export destination, accounting for 37 percent of our total beer exports. According to data from Comtrade, Dutch beer has a market share of 19 percent of total US beer imports. After the US, France and the United Kingdom are our largest buyers.

Exports to the US did decline in 2014, however, by 4 percent to 599 million euros. Exports to France, China, and Taiwan in particular increased significantly. Every continent is represented among the twenty largest export destinations for Dutch beer. 93 percent of the beer exported from the Netherlands consists of beer brewed in the Netherlands. The remaining export portion is brewed elsewhere but distributed via the Netherlands (re-exports).

Mexico leading beer exporter after 2010
Until 2010, the Netherlands was the most important beer exporting country. In 2010, the Netherlands was overtaken by Mexico. In 2014, Mexico exported 1.8 billion euros worth of beer. That is one and a half times as much as in 2005. Mexico sold much more beer, particularly to the US. In 2014, the American share of Mexican beer exports increased to 78 percent. At the same time, the Dutch interest in the US declined.

Germany and Belgium rank third and fourth with nearly 1.1 billion in beer exports in 2014. Belgium managed to nearly double its beer exports over the past ten years, while Germany, like the Netherlands, saw exports increase by a quarter.
