Never withdraw cash at night again.

A new measure against explosive ATM bombings is being deployed by Dutch banks and Geldmaat. Effective immediately, all ATMs will be closed between 23:00 and 07:00.

The ATMs are being switched off, but not emptied. Switching off the machines makes it more difficult for explosive burglars to successfully empty ATMs, reports De Telegraaf. Depositing loose banknotes, which is possible at some machines, is no longer possible at night.

The opening hours of safes where sealbags can be deposited by business banking customers remain unchanged.
