Horeca Nederland had to wait well over a year and a half for it, but on Monday, May 18, it was finally time for the Nightlife Awards again. For the 11th time, awards were presented to the best nightlife venues in the Netherlands. This year, the ceremony took place at Villa Thalia in Rotterdam.
The Nightlife Awards were established in 2002, when only the most popular mega discotheque was announced. The competition now features over 15 categories, both national and regional. The nominees are determined based on previous years and social media behavior. How many followers do the discotheques and clubs have, are they easy to find on social media, and what is their interaction with the public? Last year, the Groningen Beachclub Ocean 41 Nominated for the first time and then won the award for Best Dance Café in the North. Additionally, it achieved a top 3 ranking in the Netherlands.
This year was Ocean 41 Nominated once again for the same award. Visitors could vote via Facebook and the internet, and an independent research agency conducted research into the popularity of the beach club. Finally, several mystery guests paid a visit to the club. They assessed popularity, customer friendliness, service, atmosphere, and overall experience, among other factors. During an exciting and official awards ceremony at Villa Thalia in Rotterdam, Ocean 41 once again proved to stand head and shoulders above the rest. Beachclub Ocean 41 is the Best Dance Café in the North and has once again secured a top 3 position in the Netherlands!
What the jury particularly praised were the hugely popular YouTube videos “What the bartender sees, and you don’t”, “What the DJ sees and you don’t”, and “What the doorman sees and you don’t”. These videos have now been viewed nearly a million times. Ocean41 has a very large following on social media and generates a lot of interaction with the audience, partly through the photos that are taken and posted and the regular posts. Additionally, it is packed from Wednesday night through Saturday night, and the collaboration between a professional, enthusiastic crew and a fun crowd ensures a party every single night.
