On Saturday, February 6, 2016, team ‘Spanish Inquizition’ secured victory in the Open Dutch Quiz Contest (ONQC) for the second time in a row. This team was the strongest of the 89 national and international teams competing for the coveted title. The team managed to score an impressive 73.5 out of a total of 90 points.
In addition to eternal glory, ‘Spanish Inquizition’ won a fully catered weekend in Antwerp, including a brewery visit. Furthermore, they hold the title of ‘Best Quiz Team of 2016’ for a year.
In the atmospheric Martinikerk in Groningen, various rounds were presented by our quizmaster. Just like previous editions, the quiz consisted of nine exciting rounds. In total, there were two photo rounds, two music rounds, and five rounds with general knowledge questions.
The impressive second prize went to team ‘Gargamel’ this year, and the well-deserved third prize to ‘Blue Toes’. Additionally, there was a special student prize this year. ‘Tequila Mockingbird’ can call themselves the ‘Best Student Quiz Team of 2016’ for a year. This year, Ernst Elzinga from team ‘Glutius Maximus’ won the individual ‘Fifty-Fifty round’ and could therefore call himself the smartest person of this 7th edition.
Next year, all teams will try to clinch the title again. They will have the opportunity to do so on Saturday, February 4, 2017, during the 8th edition of the Open Dutch Quiz Contest!
