The sun is ready, and Noorderzon kicks off in four months. Time for an update! We are opening the 28th edition of the festival with the latest performance by acclaimed Brazilian choreographer Bruno Beltrão. With Inoah, the young Beltrão, who spectacularly revolutionized the dance language of hip-hop, once again brings the street to the stage in his uncompromising indictment of closed borders.
Since ten years and more, the global reference point for contemporary hip hop. No-one even comes close to Brasilian choreographer Bruno Beltrão, a genuine genius of dance.
– Mark Yeoman, Artistic Director Noorderzon
Energetic, confrontational, uncompromising: Bruno Beltrão is back! In 2009, he and his Grupo de Rúa already made a major impression at Noorderzon with the explosive dance performance H3. This year, it is up to the Brazilian hip-hop virtuoso and choreographer to open the 28th edition of the festival. In the almost electrically charged performance Inoah, ten dancers explore the boundaries between hip-hop, breakdance, and modern dance. Against the backdrop of corrupt Brazilian street life, they seek their place. Initially hesitant, literally groping in the dark, until the unbearable tension explodes in a storm of jumps, somersaults, and headspins. Inoah is both an intelligent plea for freedom of movement and a creative indictment of its restriction by closed borders. More info click here!
