On Saturday, February 3, team ‘Spanish Inquizition’ won the title ‘Best Quiz Team of 2018’. No fewer than 98 teams registered to compete against each other during the ninth edition of the Open Dutch Quiz Contest. The quiz took place in the atmospheric setting of the Martinikerk in Groningen.
This year, too, the evening began with a delicious three-course dinner served in the nave of the church. Participants could register for this in advance. The international general knowledge quiz started at 7:00 PM. A total of nine rounds were presented by the quizmaster.
‘Spanish Inquizition’ won the coveted title for the fourth time in a row and thereby won a weekend in The Hague, including a VIP reception at the Week of Dutch Beer. The second prize went to team ‘Blue Toes’ and the third prize went to team ‘Kapitein Ortega’.
Once again this year, there was a special prize to be won for the ‘Best Student Quiz Team of 2018’. Team ‘Ingvar’ walked away with this prize and won five tickets to an FC Groningen match on the VIP terrace. This special student prize was made available by the New Energy Coalition.
During the exciting individual ‘Fifty-fifty round’, Jan-Willem from team ‘Blue Toes’ walked away with the prize and can call himself the smartest person of this ninth edition for a year.
Next year, all quiz enthusiasts will have another chance to get revenge. On February 2, 2019, the tenth edition of the Open Dutch Quiz Contest will be organized in the Martinikerk.
