On Saturday, February 4, team ‘Spanish Inquiztion’ secured the title of ‘Best Quiz Team of 2017’ for the third time in a row. The team competed against 90 national and international teams during the eighth edition of the Open Dutch Quiz Contest in the Martinikerk.
The evening began with a delicious three-course dinner for which teams could sign up in advance. The dinner, preceding the quiz, was organized for the first time this year and was a great success. No fewer than 50 participants enjoyed an exquisite meal in the nave of the church.
The battle began at 7:00 PM. In the atmospheric Martinikerk, various rounds were presented by our quizmaster. Just like previous editions, the quiz consisted of nine exciting rounds. In total, there were two photo rounds, two music rounds, and five rounds of general knowledge questions.
In addition to the coveted title, Spanish Inquiztion won a fully catered weekend in Antwerp with a brewery visit.
This year, the second prize went to team ‘Dr. Bobby’ and the well-deserved third prize to ‘Blue Toes’. In addition, there was a special student prize. ‘De Feestkoeriers’ can call themselves the ‘Best Student Quiz Team of 2017’ for a year. This year, Wessel Strijkstra from team ‘De Kennisfabriek’ won the individual ‘Fifty-Fifty round’. With this, Wessel Strijkstra can call himself the smartest person of this eighth edition.
Next year, the quiz teams will have the chance to get revenge! The ninth edition of the Open Nederlandse Quiz Contest will then be organized on February 3, 2018, in the Martinikerk.
