Every year, first-year students are welcomed to the city of Groningen during KEI Week, with this year's theme ‘Let’s KEI together’.
The city belongs to Groningen residents and students together, and therefore the KEI-week organization also invites Groningen residents to come to the KEI-week events. Residents of the Vismarkt, the Grote Markt, and the Stadspark will receive a personal invitation with free drink tokens for the KEI events!
Many different organizations are working hard to put on a fantastic week. The 2016 KEI Week is paying extra attention to the residents living near the event locations. Nienke van Sligter, the Chair of the Executive Board, explains that a letter is being sent to local residents to inform them about the KEI Week. ‘The theme ‘Let’s KEI together’ was chosen because the KEI Foundation believes it is important that all of Groningen welcomes the new residents together.
Not all Groningen residents are aware that many events during KEI Week are open to everyone. To raise awareness of this and lower the barrier to attending, two drink tokens have been added to the letters. In this way, we hope for more visitors from the city.
The KEI Week kicks off today with a spectacular opening on the Grote Markt on Monday evening. Come along in large numbers to show the first-year students what a beautiful city Groningen is! The full KEI Week program can be found at www.keiweek.nl/programma.
