The Dutch Beer Training Foundation (StiBON) is coming to Groningen for the second time this spring. The Level 1 course trains interested individuals to become ‘beer ambassadors’ over six Monday evenings. To date, more than 150 beer ambassadors have completed the course and can rightfully call themselves beer connoisseurs. “The fact that we are organizing the course in Groningen again proves that the beer culture in the north of the Netherlands is alive and kicking. You can register for the course via the website.” www.stibon.nlThe program starts on March 10. In addition to Groningen, programs are also planned in Gulpen and Utrecht.
During the General Beer Knowledge course, participants learn to taste and describe the most important beer types. Naturally, the influence of raw materials such as grains, hops, and herbs is covered. At a brewery, one learns more about the brewing process and the magic of fermentation. In addition, the history of our national drink is discussed, as well as the most important legislation. The course concludes with a lesson on beer and food pairings. The course is intended for those who need a solid basic knowledge of the product beer in the hospitality industry or in wholesale and retail. The course is also suitable for those with a hobbyist interest in beer. StiBON provides a general curriculum, independent of breweries or suppliers.
Stichting Bieropleidingen Nederland (StiBON) was founded in 2009 to impart knowledge about beer and everything related to it to anyone interested in beer, whether professionally or as an enthusiast. StiBON is the winner of the Gouden Pint for the best beer initiative in the Netherlands.
