For the third year in a row, The Dog’s Bollocks in Groningen is being transformed into a pop venue during Eurosonic/Noorderslag. From Wednesday, January 13 to Friday, January 15, the pub on Oude Boteringestraat will be the stage for the Hooghoudt Music Sessions. With 30 acts, it is once again a packed program. No wristband needed, no entrance fee. Just lots of great live music.
On Wednesday, January 13, the Groningen/Malian band DraMali will kick things off at 8:00 PM. Also performing this evening is Groningen's best-kept secret: De Kat. To close the evening, you can sing along—cry and laugh—with the most booked band of the Popronde: Daniel Cane & the Rebellion.
Thursday evening kicks off at 7:00 PM with the men of Counter Jib; they recently provided the opening act for Foo Fighters. Of the 8(!) shows The Blind Roofers are playing this week, they are doing one tonight at The Dog’s Bollocks. From 11:00 PM, the program is hosted by Life’s A Beach and In The Lobby. They present Maask and Rectum Raiders, among others. The latter did everything they could to represent Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest and will show tonight why they should have been selected.
Friday, January 16 kicks off at 7:00 PM with the indie rock of Gifter. Also this evening features the Leeuwarden rascals Icky Pack, and Cloudhead Bookings presents The Afterveins (last year's Noorderslag), among others. The three-day music event will be closed by local hero Stuart Mavis.
