Donovan’s is moving!

Donovan’s has been a household name in Groningen for over eight years now. Rumors had been circulating for some time that a larger location had been found, and now the time has finally come. From November 1, 2017, hospitality entrepreneur Donovan and his wife Elsbeth Maduro can fully dedicate themselves to moving Donovan’s to a new location that is no less than four times larger. By their own account, the location is ideal for taking the Donovan’s concept to the next level, and with it, the Peperstraat.

Open atmosphere as a foundation

“We want to offer a nightlife venue that appeals to everyone who loves our music, regardless of background, religion, or sexual preference. Our audience is wonderfully diverse, and the only thing everyone has in common is that they want to have a good time. It is this cozy, open atmosphere that forms the basis for every development of Donovan’s.” Says the owner.

Time to expand

Donovan had been looking for a larger location for quite some time, as it quickly became clear that the current spot was too small for the number of people who enjoyed visiting. “We’ve heard so many times that we’re too busy, too small, and that it’s time to expand. And now we can!” says Donovan with a laugh. “And fortunately, we’re not moving far, so people won’t have any trouble finding us.”

Both entrepreneurs are being a bit secretive about exactly what it is going to be…

Change drastically

The new Donovan’s will move into Peperstraat 15, formerly occupied by De Kar, which closed its doors earlier this year. “We will retain and even highlight the beautiful characteristic elements of the building, but otherwise the look and interior will change drastically. We only have two months for this, so it’s going to be quite stressful,” says the optimistic Elsbeth. Moreover, the current location will accommodate a completely different concept in a fresh new guise. Both entrepreneurs are being somewhat secretive about exactly what it will be, but anyone who loves singing will certainly want to be here!
